Daily Devotion April 5

April 5: John 20:1-10

KJV Key Verse: John 20:1
The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

Devotion:
Do you think Mary was talking to anyone when she walked to the tomb on this day? Do you think she was just in silence wondering what was going on after seeing Jesus die on the cross? Do you think she may have asked “how do we open the tomb?” or “will they let us in?” and then they were faced with this empty tomb!

The number of times I have dreamed about going somewhere, parking the car and then coming back to get in the car only to find it gone! That feeling is bad enough about a car or some other thing you may dream about… What would it be like to see a person you love gone? We can only try to piece together what they may have said or what they may have been thinking about, but we will never know it all until we can see them face to face in Heaven.

The disciples did not know what to do either when they had been told that Jesus had gone from the tomb. They would probably have blamed the authorities first of all, and the authorities blamed the disciples and it would have all be such a mess if Jesus had not stopped back and show Himself to them all. But that is the way that our Lord works – He makes sure that the right thing is done at the right time and does not leave us alone!

We may feel like the world is going to end or that we have been left behind at times, but we should never forget just how much Christ has done for us and how much He continues to work things out for us! We may not see why He has done what He has done at the time, but when we look back like we can on the Easter Story, we find all manner of things that Christ has done with purpose and we have just missed it all together at first! God really is good and He really does care for us. Be still and know that He is God!

Points to Ponder:
Are you too busy crying over spilt milk?

Or do you trust God?
