November 28: Hebrews 11:21

KJV Key Verse: Hebrews 11:21
21 By faith Jacob, when he was a dying , blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped , leaning upon the top of his staff.

Devotion:
Just as Abraham was able to trust in God to provide a sacrifice for him to offer to God, we must be able to put our trust in the unseen. For faith is all about believing in the unseen and knowing that it will come to pass. Jacob was blind when he blessed Joseph's sons. And yet, he knew which of the sons should have his right hand placed on. He knew which of the sons would be the greater. He was fully trusting in God to show him what to do in blessing them.

Many times in our lives, we cannot see the wood for the trees. We are blind to what is actually happening in our lives because we simply do not want it to be true. We shut our eyes when we get near to danger. We do not want to know what is going to happen to us. What we should be doing is embracing the situation, knowing that God is going to show us the way. Now, I am not saying we should take up a career as a stunt man and see how high a cliff we can jump off without a parachute! What I am saying is we should allow God to be our guide in everyday life, not just when we get into trouble.

How are you going to know what God wants you to do if you are only going to listen to Him when He tells you what you should not be doing? Do you think it would be sound to go through life doing what you wanted so that you could find out what are all the bad things in life? What you should be doing is listening to find out what the bad things are so that you can avoid them in the first place.

Without God's guidance in our everyday lives, we are blind to His needs, blind to our needs, blind to everything that is good. Trust in the unseen, but don’t just shut your eyes and see what happens.

Points to Ponder:
Would you walk blindfolded through a minefield?

Will you trust God to show you the mines in your life?
