Reading your Bible for today January 23
January 23: Ecclesiastes 3:11-15
KJV Key Verse: Ecclesiastes 3:14
14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth , it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
Devotion:
Always look on the bright side of life... Something that is not from the Bible, for what we find in the Bible is so much more. God does not just want us to look on the bright side of life, but to embrace the bright side of life and to live it! You only have to look outside and see the wonders of this world to realise what God has done in the beginning is an awesome and wonderful thing. We may be able to understand and feel just how marvellous this world is, but we will never be able to understand all God has done in this world. Each of us starts to learn about life from a very young age, but none of us can pretend to know it all by the time we are taken home.
We can see all that is around us and know this has all been done out of love for the here and now, for nothing of this is going to be with us after we die; we are destined for greater things! But whilst we are here, we can indeed embrace the whole of life here and enjoy everything He has provided for us now.
What God has done is create something that is going to last for as long as He wishes it to last. We cannot break it totally, because He will not allow us to break all of it. We may well mess things up for a while and have to live with the consequences of our actions, but we will never take away from it what He has put into it.
Everything that has happened so far has been required of God. We are living in a day of grace, covered by His grace. He has already sent His son to die on the cross for us, because He required that to be done. When Solomon wrote these words, he realised everything that had past had been done for His glory (the glory of God) and many more things would follow to glorify Him more. Everything had been done so we could eventually see it is indeed God who is in control of this world.
Points to Ponder:
How many times have you pretended to own something?
Do you act like you own what belongs to God?
