Reading your Bible for today 19
March 19: Revelation 21:1-4
KJV Key Verse: Revelation 21:4
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away .
Devotion:
In Revelation 14 we are told of the 144,000 redeemed who will return to come and preach the Gospel to the lost. They will return singing a new song, praising God. It is right near the end of the Bible where it talks about the wonders of heaven, about how we shall no longer see death, pain or sorrow. Personally I can't wait to be in a place where I will not have to put up with the aches and pains of growing older! But, the fact remains, we are surrounded by many people who just will not accept that God is God. We are surrounded by many people who will be beguiled by the tricks and treachery of Satan.
It takes a lot of time and understanding to come to terms with everything written in the Bible, but the good news is we don't have to understand it all in order to be saved. We don't have to know it all in order to be saved from death, pain and sorrow. All we have to do is to find out the simple truth, to know that God is God, that we are sinners and that we need Him to forgive us of our sins. Knowing there is a God is not enough; having a loving relationship with Him is what is required!
Many of the people described above are the ones who refuse to believe they are sinners and they refuse to believe they could have broken the laws of God. It does not take a genius to find out the truth, but it does take the Word of God. There is no way people will be able to know they have done wrong without first hearing about what is true and righteous. Only then will people be able to understand what it is they are doing wrong!
We can help to spread God's Word by the example we set. We can help to spread God's Word by showing others the Bible. We can help to spread God's Word by learning more so that we can stand up to people telling false stories. God wants each one of us to do our part, showing Him our love for Him in our own ways.
Points to Ponder:
How often do you read your bible?
How often do you show someone else your Bible?
