Editor’s Note: Star Wars fans the world over are celebrating Star Wars Day (May 4), which is clever pun on the famous line from the film series: May the force be with you. We hope you enjoy this excerpt from May the Faith Be With You, a devotional especially for all sci-fi fans.

* * *

I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet. So you also should wash one another’s feet. I have given you an example. You should do as I have done for you.— John 13:14–15

Master Moment

Jesus taught that when we love and respect others, we show God how much we love Him.

Ways of Wisdom

Even though He was God, Jesus washed each of the disciples’ feet. His friend Peter wanted Jesus to stop. But Jesus said He had to do it. Jesus wanted them to understand what it means to love and serve other people.

Use the Force

Jesus, You washed Your disciples’ dusty feet. I can open the door for my mom when her arms are full of groceries. I can pull weeds with Dad. You gave me the example, Jesus. I will love and help others!

How can you serve others and show the Love of Jesus to those around you today? We want to hear your thoughts.
