Prayer Power Part 1
Praise and thank the Lord before presenting your request to Him.
Psalm 95:2: Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
Psalm 100:4: Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
Philippians 4:6: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
Be specific and ask for what you need.
Matthew 7:7–8: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 21:22: And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.
John 16:24: Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
James 4:2b: You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
Pray in Jesus’ name.
John 14:13–14: And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
John 16:23: And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.
Prayer also includes you listening to God.
Numbers 9:8: And Moses said to them, “Stand still, that I may hear what the Lord will command concerning you.”
1 Samuel 3:9–10: Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and it shall be, if He calls you, that you must say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.”
1 Kings 19:11–12: Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
Pray in faith.
Matthew 21:21–22: So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done.22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
Mark 11:24: Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Romans 4:21: And being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
Hebrews 11:6: But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
James 1:5–7: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord.
