HE CARRIED THE CROSS… AND STILL KEPT GOING

"And as they led Him away, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus." — Luke 23:26

The road was long, narrow, and filled with voices—some shouting, some mocking, some weeping. Dust rose into the air as soldiers forced their way through the crowd, their armor clashing with every step. In the midst of it all, He walked… broken, bleeding, yet unyielding.

The weight of the cross pressed deeply into His torn flesh. Every step was agony. His body trembled under the burden, His strength fading, yet His purpose remained unshaken. He had been beaten, mocked, and crowned with thorns, yet there was something greater than pain driving Him forward—love.

Then came the moment when His body could carry no more. He stumbled, nearly collapsing beneath the crushing weight. The soldiers, impatient and unmerciful, looked for someone—anyone—to take part in this burden. And from the crowd, they pulled a man—Simon of Cyrene.

Simon did not choose this moment. He did not wake up that day expecting to carry a cross soaked in blood. Yet suddenly, he found himself beside a suffering Savior, lifting what seemed impossible to bear. As he took hold of the wood, he stepped into a story far greater than himself.

And together, they walked.

Jesus, though weakened, did not turn back. He did not refuse. He did not give up. Step by step, through pain and humiliation, He pressed forward. Not for Himself—but for the world. For every broken soul. For every sinner. For you.

This was not just a walk to a hill. This was love in motion. This was sacrifice unfolding before the eyes of humanity. The cross was heavy, but His love was heavier. The pain was deep, but His purpose was deeper.

Even in His suffering, He showed us something eternal: that sometimes the greatest strength is found in surrender, and the greatest love is revealed in sacrifice.

He carried the cross… and still kept going.
