WHO WAS MELCHIZEDEK?

🔥 WHO WAS MELCHIZEDEK?

One of the strangest figures in the Bible appears suddenly… and then disappears.

📖 Genesis 14:18–20 introduces Melchizedek, the king of Salem and priest of God Most High.

He meets Abraham after Abraham's victory and brings out bread and wine. Then he blesses Abraham, and Abraham gives him a tenth of everything.

But here's where the mystery begins. 👀

📖 Hebrews 7:3 describes Melchizedek as having “no father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life.”

How can a human priest be described this way?

The important detail is that the passage does not necessarily mean Melchizedek literally had no parents or never died. Hebrews is emphasizing that, unlike the Levitical priests, Scripture gives no recorded genealogy, beginning, or ending for his priesthood.

Then Hebrews makes the connection even deeper:

📖 Hebrews 7:17 says:

> “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”

This is applied to Jesus Christ.

So was Melchizedek actually Jesus appearing before His earthly birth?

🤔 The Bible never directly says that.

Instead, Hebrews presents Melchizedek as a pattern pointing toward Christ's eternal priesthood.

And that leaves us with one of the Bible's most fascinating mysteries:

Why did God choose this almost unexplained king and priest to become a picture of the priesthood of Christ?

🔥 What do YOU think Melchizedek was?
A historical king and priest?
A symbolic figure pointing to Christ?
Or something even deeper?
