Why Did God Choose a Woman to Help Save Israel From Its Enemies?

 _The Answer Is Powerful…_ 

Why would God choose a woman to lead Israel at a time when the nation was terrified of its enemies? For years, Israel had been oppressed by King Jabin of Canaan, while his powerful commander Sisera controlled a terrifying army with 900 iron chariots. The Israelites were afraid, and they cried out to God for help.

But God had already prepared someone unexpected.

Her name was Deborah, a prophetess and judge of Israel. She was not described as a warrior leading from the battlefield. Instead, she listened to God and delivered His message to Barak: “Go! This is the day the Lord has given Sisera into your hands.”

Barak gathered the army, and Israel went into battle. What happened next was astonishing. God threw Sisera’s forces into confusion, and the army that had terrified Israel was defeated.

But the story didn’t end there.

Sisera escaped on foot—only to meet Jael, another woman who would play a decisive role in Israel’s victory.

Deborah’s story reveals something powerful: God can accomplish His purposes through people others might never expect.

The victory belonged not to human strength, but to God who gave the command.
