A THIRSTY SOUL NEEDS THE WORD OF GOD
When you are thirsty, you look for water.
When you are hungry, you look for food.
These physical needs remind us of a deeper spiritual reality: the human soul also has a hunger and thirst that the things of this world cannot satisfy.
You can have money, success, relationships, possessions, recognition, and everything this world can offer, yet still feel an emptiness within.
Why?
Because the soul was created to seek God.
Jesus said in Matthew 4:4, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
Food can satisfy the body for a time. Water can satisfy physical thirst for a while. But the Word of God nourishes the soul and directs us toward eternal life.
From a Oneness Pentecostal perspective, there is only one true God, and that one God was manifested in the flesh as Jesus Christ. Scripture declares, “God was manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16), and Colossians 2:9 teaches that “all the fulness of the Godhead” dwells bodily in Christ.
Jesus is therefore at the center of our spiritual hunger.
When your soul is thirsty, seek Jesus.
When your heart is empty, seek Jesus.
When you are confused, seek His Word.
When you are discouraged, pray.
When sin has pulled you away from God, repent and return to Him.
The world may offer temporary satisfaction, but only God can satisfy the deepest need of the soul.
That is why we cannot live spiritually without God's Word.
We need His truth.
We need His presence.
We need His Spirit.
We need His grace.
We need Jesus.
Acts 2:38 teaches us to repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This points us toward a life that is completely surrendered to God—a life of repentance, obedience, faith, and walking in the Spirit.
Don't ignore the hunger inside your heart.
Don't try to fill a spiritual emptiness with temporary things.
Go to the source.
Open the Bible.
Pray sincerely.
Seek God's presence.
Listen to His Word.
Obey what He teaches.
Keep walking with Jesus.
Because just as your body needs food and water to live, your soul needs God.
Jesus said in John 6:35, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger.”
The world may leave you empty, but Jesus offers something eternal.
When you are thirsty, drink from the living water.
When you are hungry, feed upon the Word of God.
When your soul is searching, seek Jesus Christ.
Let your greatest desire be not merely to have more of this world, but to know God more deeply and remain faithful to Him until the end.
Your body needs food. Your body needs water. But your soul needs God. 🙏📖
