BEFORE YOU THROW THE STONE, EXAMINE YOUR HEART
John 8:7 reminds us of a powerful truth: we should be careful when we are quick to condemn others, because we are also people in need of God’s grace.
Sometimes, we see another person’s mistakes so clearly that we forget to examine our own hearts. We notice their failure, their weakness, their past, and their wrong decisions—but we forget that we, too, have needed forgiveness.
Jesus did not approve of sin, but He also did not encourage self-righteous condemnation. He challenged those who were ready to condemn and made them look within themselves first.
Before you point a finger, pray.
Before you judge, examine your heart.
Before you condemn, remember the mercy God has shown you.
The stone in your hand may represent anger, pride, bitterness, unforgiveness, or judgment. Sometimes the greatest victory is not throwing the stone—it is having the humility to put it down.
We are called to correct one another with love, restore those who have fallen, and speak the truth with grace. Correction should lead people toward repentance, not push them further away from God.
Never forget: the same grace you received is the grace someone else may desperately need today.
Let your life be known not for how quickly you condemn, but for how faithfully you show truth, mercy, forgiveness, and Christlike love.
Put the stone down.
Examine your heart.
Choose mercy.
Choose humility.
Choose grace.
Because one day, we will all stand before God—not as judges of others, but as people who desperately need His mercy.
📖 “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” — John 8:7
🙏 Lord, search my heart before I judge someone else. Remove pride, bitterness, and self-righteousness from me. Teach me to speak truth with love, forgive as You have forgiven me, and extend mercy to others. Amen.
Before you throw the stone, look at your own heart. ❤️
